1937 - Ing. Giuseppe Furmanik gets out of his 4CM 1500 'carenato' (streamlined) after a world speed record attempt on the Firenze-Mare autostrada. The aerodynamic bodywork was designed by the Centro Sperimentale Aeronautico di Giudonia and built by Viotti of Turin. Standing on the left of the photograph is Ernesto Maserati. Furmanik broke the world speed record for the flying kilometre in the 1½-litre class with a speed of 148.4 mph. |
