Introduced in 1987, the body and mechanics of the Maserati 430 were up-dated in 1990.
The front and rear bumpers were reshaped: to a more rounded and modern design. They are practically the same as those fitted on the 4.24v. The front grill remained unchanged, with its chromed outer frame. On the boot lid a new discreet spoiler was added to improve aerodynamics, a typical feature of the 2 liter, 24-valve saloon. The wheel rims of the earlier design were maintained (instead of the later 7-spoke rims) to enhance a more classic rather than sporty style.
The car was equipped with a catalyst emission control system with Lambda sensor as standard.
The 430 was avaliable with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission.
Maximum power 225 bhp at 5500 rpm and maximum torque 363 Nm (37 k/gms) at 3500 rpm
Two turbochargers and two front air-to-air intercoolers.
Disc brakes on all four wheels, front ventilated discs with floating calipers and some models were fitted with an ABS braking system.
Light alloy wheel rims: TA 15", tyres 205x55 VR15 or 205x55 ZR15.
Performances: top speed over 230 kph with manual gearbox and 230 kph with automatic transmission.
