Maserati: A set of 5 monographs

by Karl Lewandowski

Published by Maserati 2003

The good news is that Maserati have introduced a set of five paperback monographs giving a brief history the following classics; the Tipo 26B, the Tipo A6GCS 'Monofaro', the Tipo ACGCS 2000 'Barchetta', the Tipo 150S and the Tipos 200S / 200SI.

Each 'booklet' contains 16 pages. They are beautifully illustrated with many colour and black/white photographs.

And there was more good news, they were very reasonably priced! Bravo Maserati!

I think they were a steal!!!

Maserati: Quattroporte

by Jürgen Lewandowski and Ermanno Cozza

Published by Maserati 2003

To celebrate the launch of the new Quattroporte, Maserati have once again issued a 'monomarque' book devoted to the legendary Quattroporte. It contains 140 pages with numerous colour and b/w photographs.

I now have a copy and it a very enjoyable read. It covers all models; the QP I, II, III, III Royale and the new QP V. Nice touch is the chapter entitled 'New ideas breed new life' which acknowledges the four-door Biturbo saloons: the 420, 420 S, 425, 420 Si, 422, 4.24v., 430.4v. and the Quattroporte IV.

Well worth getting hold of a copy or two!

Maserati 300S

by Walter Baümer

Published by Dalton Watson 2008

This is the first book devoted exclusively to the Maserati 300S, one of the most beautiful sports racing cars ever built, and the main opponent of the Ferraris in the World Sportscar Championships of 1956 and 1957.

Hardback with dust cover and slip case (29.5 x 29 cm), 360 pages containing over 350 period black and white and colour photographs.

The Maserati 300S was described by Stirling Moss as one of the best race car concepts of the Fifties, the 300S wrote motor sports history. With famous drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio, Jean Behra, Harry Schell, Carroll Shelby and Stirling Moss, it raced with both great success and disappointing failure.

Despite the often confusing and inaccurate records which make it difficult to establish the exact fate of these cars, the history of each of the twenty eight 300S that were made by Officine Maserati S.p.A. in Modena, is listed chassis by chassis and profusely illustrated with period photographs. A section on the technical specifications of the 300S is also included, and an overview of the sports car racing scene of the time provides historical context.
