Claudio is a young man with a passion for Italian cars, hardly surprising when you think that his father drives a Maserati Spyder Vignale and a Lamborghini Miura.
Dottor Claudio, the President of the Biturbo Club Italia, drives a 1995 Ghibli II and recently gained a Doctorate in Dentistry at the University of Genoa. For his efforts, he rewarded himself with a trip to visit friends in the United States and Mexico. During this visit he attended the Concorso Italiano, held at The Black Horse Golf Course at Monterey Bay in California.

Il 19 agosto si e' svolta la ventesima edizione del "Concorso Italiano", il piu' importante raduno al mondo di auto italiane, che si svolge ogni anno nella splendida cornice del golf club Pebble Beach a Monterey, in California, all'interno di un weekend dedicato ai motori che culmina la domenica col famoso concorso di eleganza.
Dal momento che mi trovavo in vacanza in California, non mi sono fatto sfuggire l'irripetibile occasione di vedere questo evento, al quale hanno aderito un migliaio di auto italiane di tutte le marche, dalle piu' prestigiose Ferrari d'epoca fino alle piu' banali (per noi, ma non per gli americani) Fiat, a testimoniare quanto l'auto italiana, putroppo quasi solo del passato, e' ancora stimata negli States.
Presenti circa 80 Maserati di tutte le epoche, dalle A6G54 fino all'ultima Quattroporte. Una decina le vetture della serie Biturbo, che si concentravano in due modelli: Spyder di vari modelli e 228. Ho anche conosciuto qualche loro proprietario e posso dire che in USA le Biturbo godono di una fama migliore che qui.
Un ulteriore soddisfazione e' venuta dal fatto che la vincitrice assoluta del concorso e' stata una A6G54 2000 spyder, una delle 5 esistenti, che ha messo dietro anche le Ferrari milionarie presenti.
L'evento, inimmaginabile secondo le nostre abitudini per proporzioni e passione, e' un vero e proprio Italian-pride, con tanto di sfilate di moda, esaltazione del cibo italiano, musica italo-americana e persino uno Stradivari del '600 che e' stato suonato per l'occasione.
