"Caro Enrico,

Ti invio le foto relative al 2° Raduno Internazionale Biturbo Club Italia svoltosi ad Orvieto e dedicato alla memoria di Marco Turci (l'amico morto quest'anno con la sua 224).

Dato che il gruppo era guidato da Claudio che viaggiava in autostrada ad una velocità molto lenta il viaggio è stato estenuante, figurati che una Fiat 127 900cc 47 cv ci ha sorpassato come niente fosse!

Al sabato le vetture si sono ritrovate nella piazza del duomo di Orvieto dove sono state schierate ed esposte in scrupoloso ordine. Mentre gli equipaggi prendevano possesso delle camere negli hotel gli organizzatori finivano di preparare gli stand e gli striscioni.

Sono seguite poi le visite all ipogeo (museo di reperti etruschi e romani), e alle grotte che sottostanno ad Orvieto. Rientrati in hotel gli equipaggi si sono potuti rinfrescare e preparare per la cena svoltasi in un ristorante nel centro di Orvieto.

La mattina seguente sveglia alle 8 per prepararsi alla partenza per raggiungere Bagnoregio ove le vetture sono state esposte mentre gli equipaggi visitavano il museo Taruffi.

La carovana è poi ripartita alla volta di Bolsena per godere del pranzo in cui sono stati simpaticamente premiate 4 vetture, e ricordato Marco Turci.

Durante il pranzo è stato premiato anche Piero Agostini vincitore di un test (quiz) organizzato da Repartocorse riguardante storia e tecnica della Maserati.

Due giornate stupende passate in compagnia di appassionati.

"Dear Enrico,

Hera are some some photos taken at the 2nd International Meeting of the Biturbo Club Italia at Orvieto, organised by Roberto Tudini and dedicated to the memory of Marco Turci; our friend who sadly died this year in his 2.24v.

The journey South took a little longer than expected. Claudio, who was at the head of our convoy, was travelling on the 'autostrada' at a relatively slow speed; imagine even a FIAT 127 (900 cc and 47 bhp) overtook us as if we were standing still!!

On the Saturday members and their cars gathered together in the 'Piazza del Duomo' in the centre of Orvieto where the cars were parked side by side in an orderly fashion for our display. While the teams checked into their hotels, the organisers finalised the programme and prepared our 'stand'.

Later we visited the 'Ipogeo', a museum famed for its collection of ancient Etruscan and Roman artefacts, and the grottos situated in the hill under Orvieto.

The teams returned to the hotel and freshened up before dinner at a restaurant in the centre of Orvieto.

The next morning we were up at 8am ready for the trip to Bagnoregio where the cars were left on display while the teams visited the Pieri Taruffi museum.

The 'convoy' then set off for lunch at Lake Bolsena. During lunch members were asked to take part in a short quiz on the history and technical achievments of Maserati, organised by Repartcorse. The winner Piero Agostini was presented with a special prize.

Following lunch fun prizes were awarded to the winning cars in four very important categories;

a) The car with the dirtiest engine
b) The car with the most well-worn interior
c) The least original car
and of course
d) The car with the most rust.

I won't embarrass the owners by publishing the names of the winners!

All in all the meeting was a great success; two splendid days spent in the company of genuine Maserati enthusiasts and all our thanks go to Roberto Tudini for his hard work in making it happen. Thank you Roberto!
