MASERATI USED PARTS

"Hello Enrico,

I have been a passionate Maseratista since the 1980’s, and have owned practically all the Maserati Biturbo models incuding a 1996 Quattroporte 2.0 V6. In order of ownership, my first example was a Biturbo 420, then a 420 SI, a 4.24v, then a 2.24v, followed by three Ghibli 2.0 1a serie, great cars, and the Quattroporte.

My present car is a 222 ASI Targa Oro.

I know all the Maseratis of the De Tomaso era very well, and have many used parts available, because over the years, when I found cars which were abandoned or being broken for parts, I bought them, and even now I buy them whenever something becomes available.

I have just bought a 222 from Rome and a 2.24v, minus the engine, again from Rome.

Over the years I have established a great knowledge of these cars, and know now how difficult it is for owners to find parts which are no longer available from the factory.

I now have many used parts for a variety of models including Ghibli body parts; axles, doors, boot lids, right and left-side front wings, complete rear side panels, windscreen deflectors, side drip panels and some interior trim parts. I also have many mechanical and interior parts for the 222, 2.24v, 420, 422, 425, 4.24v and 430.

I can be contacted at iltabaccacio@libero.it

Regards,

Emiliano."

MASERATI: CAR NUMBER 100,000
LEAVES THE AVV. GIOVANNI AGNELLI PLANT AT GRUGLIASCO

Maserati car number 100000 leaves the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli Plant

Modena, 05 December 2016 – This morning, at the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli Plant (AGAP) where the Ghibli sports saloon and the Quattroporte flagship saloon are built, celebrations were held to mark the production of the 100,000th car. It was a white Quattroporte Model Year 2017, equipped with the 350 horsepower 3.0 litre V6 Twin-Turbo engine built by Ferrari. This special Quattroporte is destined for China, a strategic market for Maserati and of primary importance for the Brand's flagship saloon car.

Alfredo Altavilla, FCA Chief Operating Officer for the EMEA Region, thanked everyone working at AGAP, whose dedication has made this plant a centre of excellence not only within the Maserati production organisation but for the entire FCA group.

Alfredo Altavilla addresses the Maserati workforce

The 100,000th car is a white Quattroporte GranSport MY17

“The Maserati brand's impressive growth during the last few years has been one of the major developments at the Premium end of the market; the sixth generation of the Maserati saloon, developed here at Grugliasco, is the best-selling Quattroporte of all time and almost 70,000 units of the Ghibli, built here, have now left the production line, meaning that in little more than three years it has become the most successful Maserati of all time," Alfredo Altavilla commented.

"With the Levante, the Brand has now moved into the SUV segment and the ‘Maserati spirit’ has also reached the Mirafiori plant, where the Levante is produced. The men and women who work here at the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli Plant at Grugliasco are already well aware of this," Mr Altavilla added, "because many of them mentored their Mirafiori colleagues during the production launch and build-up phases for the new Levante SUV, acting as ambassadors for the Brand's craftsman-like care and attention to detail.”

As well as the AGAP, Grugliasco and Mirafiori, Turin plants, Maserati has a third production location at its historic headquarters on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena, where the GranTurismo and GranCabrio sports cars are built.

Today, Maserati is a genuine Italian icon: a symbol of creativity, passion, innovation and style, values all reflected in the range. Thanks to a unique blend of craftsmanship, technology and obsessive attention to detail, it produces cars that never fail to thrill and inspire.

With the range-completing Levante SUV, alongside the new Quattroporte, the Ghibli, the GranTurismo and the GranCabrio, Maserati now covers every sector of the global luxury car market.

GHIBLI II - SUSPENSION MODIFICATION

"Hello Enrico,

It seems a long time since I sent you the details of the new modifications made to my car.

There are many parts that will be sent later. About shock absorbers that the factory in Italy has no more in production, Koni as well. I have now modified both the front and rear by using Bilstein from Germany.

The result after several months of testing is great satisfaction ! The handling of the car is good and the parts are cheap and in huge supply in the market.

I have included illustrated photos for all our friends who may be interested.

In Japan they have their way of modification, that's more complicated and expensive.

Finally, hope you are fine and keep in touch then.

Preecha."

MASERATI MULTI70 FIRST ACROSS THE LINE IN THE 37TH ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE

Giovanni Soldini and the Maserati Multi70 team were first across the finish-line in the 37th Rolex Middle Sea Race at 14 00’ 01” yesterday afternoon. Buzzing with the joy of victory, they took line honours in a time of 2d, 1h, 25' and 01" in the off-shore classic regatta organized by the Royal Malta Yacht Club.

The Maserati Multi70 trimaran also set the new multihull record for the legendary Maltese race, slashing just over 10 hours off the previous one set in 2015 by American Lloyd Thornburg’s Phaedo3 (2d, 11h, 29' and 41").

The 608 nautical mile route departs from Malta and takes the fleet on an anticlockwise circumnavigation of Sicily, with the Aeolian Islands, Egadi Islands, Pantelleria and Lampedusa returning back to the port of Malta.

“It was a fantastic race. We learned a lot, including the fact the wing on the centreboard works against us in very light air,” explained Giovanni Soldini just after he’d stepped ashore at Malta. “In a strong wind with a flying foil – which was changed after we lost the rudder during the passage to Malta – we would have bridged the gap. We were here to test that very solution but unfortunately we didn’t get the chance.”

The weather conditions that prevailed throughout the 37th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race set the pace for the fleet leaders.

“We hadn’t much wind to get us to Sicily, very little at all in the Strait and even less until we’d passed Stromboli. Phaedo3 took a good strong lead in those conditions but after the western tip of Sicily we managed to catch up most of the way, cutting the distance to them to a dozen miles. North of Sicily, we made the tactical decision to stay offshore, towards Ustica, and that paid off.”

On Monday morning, Phaedo3 made a technical error by heading for Linosa rather than Lampedusa, and the roles reversed. The Maserati Multi70 crew threw themselves whole-heartedly into the race and launched a suitably determined attack.

“Phaedo3 had a brilliant race with very few errors and then made an enormous one at the end: we grabbed the opportunity and ran with it….” commented Giovanni Soldini.

Maserati Multi70’s race spanned a number of memorable moments, most notably her passage off Palermo, making landfall at Sicily after the start from Malta where Phaedo3 also put on a very good performance.

MASERATI MC-63 PROJECT

"Hello Enrico,

So about me, I am 22 years old and I just graduated in Transportation Design from IAAD - Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design in Torino. My passion for cars started from when I was child and I would like that this passion will be my job in the future.

Maserati MC-63 was born almost by accident some months ago when I drew a fast sketch of a supercar and I thought this is could be a great Maserati. So I started read about Maserati history and I fell in love with Maserati Birdcage Tipo 63 and I decided to develop a new car based on LaFerrari (like the MC12 with the Enzo) that could combine the past and the future stylistic elements of the brand in a single way. The soft volumes of the upper part of the car are inspired by past Maserati, while the lower part is inspired by racing cars with sharper elemtents in carbon fiber. This contrast was the key point during the design process.

I worked on it just in the freetime because during the day I was really busy with university but in 2 months more on less I finished the project and I upload on Behance. I am really proud of it.

I was surprised when I see my project on many websites because I didn't adervise it, but maybe someone saw it and he decided to publish.

This is really cool and I am happy that people like the car.

That's all !

Andrea."

My sincere thanks to the highly talented Andrea Ortile for allowing me to publish his drawings, photos and text.

Grazie Mille !

THE INSPIRATION

The Maserati MC-63 is a 2-seater mid-engined sports car based on LaFerrari.

The design is inspired by a famous race car of the marque: the 1961 Maserati Tipo 63 of the Birdcage series.

The elegance and sportivity of the Italian marque live together in this car.

THE CONCEPT

Andrea Ortile

The shape expresses Maserati's values looking forward without forgetting the past: simple values, fluent lines and single propositions.

POWER DESIGN

Andrea Ortile

The car is thought to have incredible performance, so the exterior design at the same time has to express this power through unique lines that catch people's eyes.

Andrea Ortile

SIDE ANALYSIS

Andrea Ortile

The side view highlights the similarity between the 60's Maserati and the new one. the design is sinuous and elegant: the roof is a constant curved line which links the front to the rear and the wheel arches are soft and rounded.

DOUBLE SOUL

Andrea Ortile

Their is a strong stylistic contrast between the upper and lower half of the car.

The upper half is inspired by classis cars with pure volumes, while the lower half shows any sharp carbon fibre elements that emphasize the sportivity of the car.

3D MODEL DEVELOPMENT

Andrea Ortile

Having defined the style, the following step was the development of the 3D model. The softwares used were;

Autodesk Alias for the entire body of the car;

Rhinoceros for the smaller details such as the logos.
