To celebrate the latest GranTurismo and GranCabrio, Maserati looks back at 70 years of Maserati GTs with seven iconic Maserati cars:
 

Maserati A6 1500 (1947)
 

The original GranTurismo model was launched at the 1947 Geneva Motor Show featuring a 1.5-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with 65hp under a revolutionary body designed by Pinin Farina.
 

Maserati 3500 GT (1957)
 

The first “mass-produced” Maserati made its debut in 1957, the year Fangio took the F1 title in his 250F. Its aluminium body was designed by Touring around a 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine with 230hp.
 

Maserati 5000GT (1959)
 

The object of desire. This Maserati GT was produced purely to meet the desires of the Shah of Persia, who wanted a more exclusive version of the 3500 GT. With a potent V8 engine, the 5000GT was famous for its performance and exclusivity.
 

Maserati Ghibli SS Coupe (1970)
 

In 1967 Maserati added a sports coupe to their line-up, named after a Saharan wind and designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was seen as a challenger to the establishment. The Ghibli SS was introduced in 1970 with a larger, 4.9-litre V8 engine with 335hp.
 

Maserati Khamsin (1974)
 

The successor to the Ghibli and named after a desert wind, was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone. Pure 1970s Italian exotica featuring a 4.9-litre V8 engine with 320hp.
 

Maserati 3200GT (1998)
 

Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it returned the GranTurismo concept to its former glory. The predecessor of the current GranTurismo featured a Twin Turbo 3.2-litre V8 engine with 370hp.
 

Maserati GranTurismo (2017)
 

The original GranTurismo was designed by Pininfarina, debuted in 2007 and was joined by the GranCabrio in 2010. Both cars have now been restyled to reflect the pioneering spirit of the original GranTurismo concept, a thrilling pairing of race car derived performance with uncompromising luxury.

GranTurismo is at the heart of every single Maserati. The original concept was enticingly simple; It involved fitting a sophisticated race car engine into a luxurious, handcrafted saloon. Seamlessly combining these two worlds was, of course, far from simple. Yet it is exactly what Maserati did in 1947 with the A6 1500. Styled by Pininfarina, such power had never been so beautifully packaged and delivered – opening up all kinds of new, long-distance possibilities.

Today’s GranTurismo models are direct descendants of this breakthrough innovation.     The new Ghibli as well as the Levante MY18 are now available in GranLusso and GranSport trims, previously introduced in the Quattroporte range. Ghibli and Quattroporte now feature Adaptive full LED headlights with glare free high-beam, based on Matrix technology for Ghibli, developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting, and on L-shape technology for Quattroporte. Both Maserati sedans are fitted with power upgraded 3.0L V6 petrol engines and with the new, performance enhancing Integrated Vehicle Control system (IVC), developed by Bosch in collaboration with Maserati.

    For the first time Maserati introduces Electric Power Steering (EPS), enabling new Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) with active functions. EPS has replaced hydraulic power steering on both Maserati sedans, as well as on the Levante MY18, providing better handling and comfort, while retaining the razor-sharp steering feel that is typical to every Maserati.

    The iconic GranTurismo and GranCabrio MY18 have been elegantly restyled for improved aerodynamic performance, while featuring an upgraded interior with brand new driver interface and state-of-the art infotainment system.

    TWO SOULS OF GHIBLI

    The new Ghibli sports sedan - the best-selling vehicle in the history of Maserati with over 70,000 cars delivered in 70 countries since 2013 – makes its European Premiere at IAA Cars 2017 featuring a significant exterior restyling and a rich array of hi-tech contents. Two new distinctive trims, GranLusso and GranSport, have been included in the model range, following a strategy inaugurated by the Quattroporte in 2016. Each trim uses its own voice to bring out the elegance and sporty performance unique to Maserati.

    The Ghibli GranLusso is distinguished by enhanced exterior finish and a luxurious interior with Ermenegildo Zegna silk upholstery. The Ghibli GranSport was conceived to reflect Maserati’s racing heritage displaying sportier exterior design and interior contents. The Ghibli GranLusso and GranSport are available for all powertrain versions and feature Adaptive full LED headlights with glare free Matrix high-beam, a first for Maserati.

    The Maserati Design Centre in Turin has given a clear identity to each of the newly-introduced trims, primarily by restyling the front and rear bumpers. These aerodynamically optimised changes accentuate the original’s sporty yet luxurious style. The aerodynamic efficiency of the new Ghibli has improved by 7%, reducing the drag coefficient to 0.29 from 0.31.

    The top-range Ghibli S and S Q4 versions now deliver 430 hp and 580 Nm peak torque, 20 hp and 30 Nm more than the previous model year. The increased power output gives the Maserati sedan a top speed of 286 km/h and even better acceleration. The new Ghibli S accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, while the Ghibli S Q4, with the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, needs only 4.7 seconds (MY17 respectively in 5.0 and 4.8 seconds).

    The new Ghibli has adopted the Integrated Vehicle Control system (IVC), which helps to prevent vehicle instability, providing enhanced active safety, improved driving dynamics and an even more thrilling performance.

    The introduction of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) is another first for Maserati. This improves the car’s handling and comfort, better supports the driving modes and enables the newly-introduced active functions of the Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS), while retaining the classically Maserati razor-sharp steering feel.

    The new Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) are available as an option in the Ghibli. In addition to the existing features, they now include active functions like Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR, based on Mobileye technology).

    Faithful to its DNA, the new Ghibli range offers unmistakable class, top-quality performance and a stylish yet comfortable driving experience.

    THE MASERATI OF SUVs

    In 2016, the launch of the Levante, the first ever SUV in the over 100-year history of Maserati, was a turning point for the Trident, introducing it into the world’s largest luxury segment. At IAA Cars 2017, Maserati presents the Levante MY18 that has adopted a new range strategy with two distinct new trims: the luxury-orientated GranLusso and the red-blooded GranSport.

    The Maserati of SUVs was engineered to excite the sport-focused drivers by making extensive use of lightweight materials, as well as boasting an ideal 50:50 weight distribution and the segment’s lowest centre of gravity. These features delivered unparalleled agility in the high-end SUV class as well as remarkable comfort on rough roads and great handling on low-grip surfaces.

    The Levante MY18 has also adopted Electric Power Steering (EPS) that provides an even more thrilling driving experience – both on- and off-road. EPS enables an enhanced Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which includes new active functions such as Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

    ULTIMATELY REFINED QUATTROPORTE

    The Quattroporte MY18 makes its debut in Frankfurt with significant upgrades and new high-tech contents, aiming to carry on its success story for the years to come. The headlights have adopted Adaptive full LED technology that provides remarkably better visibility, cooler light, glare-free high beam functionality and double extended lamp life.

    The Quattroporte MY18 retains its top status in the high-end saloon segment featuring power upgraded 3.0L V6 petrol engines, the new Integrated Vehicle Control system (IVC) and Electric Power Steering (EPS) that enables active ADAS like Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

    In terms of outright performance, the Quattroporte S & S Q4 are further improved, delivering now 430 hp power output and 580 Nm peak torque, respectively 20 hp and 30 Nm more than in the previous model year. The increased power output grants the Maserati flagship sedan a top speed of 288 km/h and even better acceleration. The Quattroporte S accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.0”, while the Quattroporte S Q4, with the intelligent Q4 All-Wheel Drive system, needs only 4.8” for the same sprint (MY17 respectively in 5.1 and 4.9 seconds).

    ICONIC GRANTURISMO AND GRANCABRIO

    The brand-defining GranTurismo and GranCabrio models have received a substantial refresh for MY18, introducing an elegant and aerodynamically efficient restyling, improved ergonomics and a state-of-the art infotainment system.

    The timeless Pininfarina design was treated with the utmost respect by the Maserati Design Centre in the restyling process, benefiting the aerodynamic efficiency of the four-seater coupe and cabriolet. As a result, the aerodynamic drag has been reduced from 0.33 to 0.32 for the GranTurismo and from 0.35 to 0.33 for the GranCabrio.

    The streamlined range of each model comprises two distinct versions, Sport and MC, both equipped with the naturally aspirated 4.7L V8 engine, producing 460 hp, 520 Nm peak torque and breathtaking Maserati-signature sound.

    The interior of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio offers unparalleled comfort for four adults thanks to the individual Poltrona Frau® leather seats with integrated headrests. For 2018, the sumptuous interior features a new, high resolution 8.4” capacitive touch screen and refined ergonomics. The state-of-the art infotainment system is combined with standard Harman Kardon Premium Sound system and the interior features a redesigned lower console accommodating a user-friendly double rotary knob.

    Continuing its prestigious partnership with Maserati, Bulgari has created two new Octo Maserati watch models and reveals them officially at IAA Cars 2017. The new Octo Maserati GranLusso and GranSport by Bulgari are firmly focused on exclusivity and reserved for Maserati owners.

    MASERATI HIGHLIGHTS AT GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2017
     

    11 September 2017 - This weekend, Maserati’s spirits were high at the glamorous Goodwood Revival as the iconic marque celebrated 70 years of the Maserati GT and 60 years since Maserati’s Formula 1 World Championship win with the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio.

    Maserati celebrated 70 years of the GT together with its contemporary range in Goodwood’s art deco Earls Court Motor Show exhibition hall. Maserati’s future and past appeared in perfect harmony, as Maserati showcased the new Levante S, the marque’s first SUV, and the Ghibli executive saloon alongside a 1960 3500 GT Vignale Spyder. In keeping with the Revival theme, the 3500 GT display in the Earls Court hall was inspired by Maserati’s stand at the Geneva Motor Show in 1957, when it was first launched to the public.

    Elsewhere, outside the Jackie Stewart Pavilion, the pits were transformed into those from the 1957 German Grand Prix, creating a unique tribute to the Nurburgring race. The iconic Maserati 250F, which was driven to a legendary victory by Fangio before the formidable pairing later won the 1957 Formula 1 World Championship, took to the track again over the weekend with avid fans witnessing the roar of the V12 engine once more. On Sunday, Formula One great and three-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, experienced the power of the 250F, taking to the circuit in a rare exclusive for the attending public.

    Weekend racing continued, as a number of legendary Maserati cars also took to the circuit competing in the Goodwood Trophy, Sussex Trophy, Freddie March Memorial Trophy and Richmond Trophy. Highlights from the weekend races include the Maserati 6CM, which crossed the line third in the Goodwood Trophy, as well as the iconic 250F which came seventh in the Richmond Trophy.

    Guests of Maserati were able to experience old world glamour at the Revival, enjoying hospitality at Goodwood House on Sunday, and being chauffeur driven to and from the Revival in a fleet of Maserati Levante, Quattroporte and Ghibli models.

    PROBLEM WITH COOLING FANS
     

    "Hello Enrico.

    You have a task on your hands talking to all of us.

    Well, I’ve got a logic problem over the cooling fans on my 1989 222 Biturbo 2-litre 18-valve car.

    Here’s the prologue.

    Air-Con got filled, no leaks, everything is ice cold, so far, so good. Auto system inside the car works fine, that story is finally completed.

    Now I am still having issues with the twin cooling fans and how they are meant to be wired. I've searched the various wiring diagrams offered, but still, nothing makes sense. All I get is hundreds of numbers, starting at one point and ending at another, but truly this is Double Dutch. There must be a handful of people around the world who have the answers. Here's the question.

    1. I have two fans behind the radiator and there are two relays to operate them, but whatever I do, I can only get one fan to operate, air/con on, or off and the same fan also uses the temperature sensor in the bottom of the radiator. There is a third relay that operates the clutch on the air/con, works perfectly.


    3. If the air/con is OFF, but the engine is hot, the air/con fan switches itself on, but the engine requires both fans to run, otherwise (even with the air/ con off), she struggles to keep to 90°C and the wires to the fan get rather hot. Under these circumstances, both fans should be running. Both fans btw are working fine, because if I swap the plugs around, one fan goes off, the other on, so we know they are both working.

    4. Logic would say, that with the air/con off both fans will click in when the engine is over 90°C, and when the air/con is on, one fan will run continually while the compressor is running (which is most of the time) and then the second fan would cut in if the engine temperature gets again to over 90°C. As soon as the engine temperature reduces, the engine cooling fan should switch off leaving the air co fan running (again if the air/con is switched on……….…

    What I am looking for is a wiring diagram of the cooling fans and air/con fan wiring only. I do know that the car is fitted with the later uprated fan systems, but clearly they don't work as they should. This problem has been with me since the last months. I have made a temporary switching system so both fans are running when needed (air co on or high engine temperature), but this (although OK) is not correct.

    Hopefully someone out there in Biturbo land has had the same issues to deal with. Many thanks in advance....

    Is there a wiring diagram for the 1989 222 Biturbo, because the only ‘large’ and thus readable wiring maps (with all those unbelievable number to and from are not for the 222, but for a similar model, a 4???………, which seems to be a four door version of the same thing ?

    I’d really like to sort this out or modify the system to work in a logical way.

The meticulous design work on the front, and the changes to the rear, bumpers, have substantially improved aerodynamic efficiency, giving the two trims a strong identity in line with the Maserati brand positioning.

    The new Ghibli GranLusso underlines the luxury and elegance of the Maserati sports saloon featuring enhanced exterior finish and a rich interior with Ermenegildo Zegna silk upholstery.     EPS has replaced the hydraulic steering system to allow the integration of new Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) like Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist; together with Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition, these features are all available in the Driver Assistance package.

    The Maranello built Ferrari 3.0-litre V6 Twin Turbo engine fitted on Ghibli S and S Q4 now delivers 20 hp more power and 30 Nm more torque than the previous unit. With 430 hp power output and 580 Nm peak torque, maximum speed is increased for both versions to 286 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 km/h has been improved by 0.1” to as low as 4.7” for the Ghibli S Q4 with the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system.

    The Chengdu Motor Show 2017 will be open to the public until September 3rd. More than 700,000 visitors are expected to visit CDMS in the vibrant city of 10 million inhabitants, in western China.

    Just spotted this interesting item on eBay.co.uk.

    It's a newspaper article known as the 'Auto Album' by Tad Burness' Auto Album, a nationally syndicated newspaper feature seen by millions since 1966, that transported readers to the autos of yesteryear. This edition featured an article on a 1957 Maserati by Tad Burgess.

    And the accompanying text reads: "Sleek and sporty as this 1957 Maserati may appear, it wouldn't be practical in traffic without bumpers. But then this one was built as a sportscar and racer, so bumpers would simply have increased the wind resistance.

    Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati are three long famous builders of Italian luxury cars, and because they have each produced so many different models and variations within those models, there is no "typical" example of each !

    In the case of Maserati, the reader may think of a luxury touring sedan, as that is what Maserati has chiefly exported to the United States during the 1980s. In 1981, for example, the Maserati "Quattroporte" (four door) was sellling in America for over $50,000 and would go 125 mph in third gear. This was later joined by the Maserati two-door "Biturbo", priced just below $27,000.

    Othere may remember some of the sportier vehicles Maserati was sending to the United States in the late 1970s, such as the Khamsin, the Merak, and the Bora.

    Maserati's trident insignia was inspired by the traditional symbol of Bologna, Italy, the city where the Maserati originated in 1926. Company founder was the late Alfieri Maserati.

    In addition to Ferrari and Lamborghini, other Italian cars sold in the United States in recent years include Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat. The latter has been withdrawn for a time from the American market, but don't be surprised if it returns in the near future, as Fiat is Italy's greatest selling car and is doing OK elsewhere.

    Maserati, over the years, has built cars with four cylinder engines,as well as straight-6, V-6, V-8, V12 and even V-16 engines ! The first Maserati V-16 was the mighty "Tipo V4" (don't let the model name fool you !), and though the multi cylindered powerhouse had a relitively small displacement for its 16 cylinders (just 221.4 cid), it boasted 305 hp at 5,500 RPM."

    MASERATI GENESI PROJECT
     

    This strikingly beautiful design may never go into production, But I for one hope it does !

    Digitally penned by Italian artist Sergey Dvornytskyy, the Genesi Concept's looks take some influence from the Maserati Alfieri concept that had our mouths watering at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014.

    Alas very little has been heard of that project since then, apart from a series of projected production dates which have come and gone.

    It would be nice to see Maserati produce it as a successor to the fabulous MC12.

    A light wind start – but fast trade wind sailing is not far away

    Ahead of Soldini and his handpicked six-man crew of skilled offshore sailors lies 2,225 miles of open ocean sailing before they reach the finish at the Diamond Head navigation buoy off Hawaii.

    The light winds at the start penalized Maserati Multi70 and handed the advantage to their closest rivals, the two high-performance American trimarans, Phaedo3 and Mighty Merloe – neither of which are set up for foiling.

    Immediately after the start gun, Soldini’s men found themselves in the wind shadow of the two American boats but managed to tack into clear wind of around 8 – 10 knots and on a layline to the western tip of Catalina Island, some 35 miles away. Once around that point, the crew will look to turn their bows towards Hawaii.

    “It will be hard in the beginning,” Soldini said before leaving the dock today. “When the wind is light, the other two are faster than us. Our goal is to stay as close as we can to avoid them getting too far ahead by the time we reach the trade winds.”

    The trade winds for the course are forecast to be in the range of 13 – 16 knots, good conditions for Maserati Multi70 to take flight on its hydrofoil dagger boards.

    I have been the organiser of the Oxford Area meet for the Italian Auto moto Club for around four years and have built up a nice little monthly meet.

    However I have failed to attract many Maserati owners to my meet so I appeal to you for help.

    04 July 2017 – Over the Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend, Maserati celebrated 70 years of making some of the world’s most acclaimed grand tourers with the global dynamic debut of the legendary GranTurismo coupé and the world premiere of the GranCabrio.

    Crowds of automotive enthusiasts visited the Maserati stand in their thousands as they admired the refreshed GranTurismo and GranCabrio, alongside four vintage grand tourers – representing Maserati’s GT history. Completing the line up on the stand was the Maserati Levante SUV, Ghibli and Quattroporte.

    The legendary GTs spanning 70 years displayed on the stand included:

    A6 1500: the original GranTurismo model was launched at the 1947 Geneva Motor Show featuring a 1.5-litre six-cylinder in-line engine with 65hp under a revolutionary body designed by Pinin Farina.

    3500 GT: the first “mass-produced” Maserati made its debut in 1957, the year Fangio took the F1 title in his 250F. Its aluminium body was designed by Touring around a 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine with 230hp.

    Ghibli SS Coupé: named after a Saharan wind, the 1967 Ghibli was designed by Giugiaro and is considered one of the greatest Italian grand tourers. The Ghibli SS was introduced in 1970 with a larger, 4.9-litre V8 engine with 335hp.

    3200GT: designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it returned the GranTurismo concept to its former glory in 1998. The predecessor of the current GranTurismo featured a Twin Turbo 3.2-litre V8 engine with 370hp.

    Goodwood Moving Motor Show ticket holders on Thursday were offered the opportunity to enjoy a ride up the famous hillclimb with one of Maserati’s pro-drivers in the Levante SUV and Ghibli executive saloon.

    Maserati was also present on the exclusive Cartier Style et Luxe lawn over the weekend, where classic cars are displayed before being judged on Sunday by a panel of experts. Amongst the cars represented in Class 5, Trident Tested - Intercontinental Maserati GT was the iconic 1953 Maserati A6GCS Pininfarina Berlinetta, a 1997 Maserati Khamsin as well as the class winning 1959 Maserati 3500 GT.

    Elsewhere at Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Future Lab, the Maserati Ghibli was involved in a unique display with its “digital twin”. The display, courtesy of Siemens, demonstrated the digital-industrial innovation that is shaping the future.

    AN ITALIAN-SPANISH CREW TO RACE WITH GIOVANNI SOLDINI ON MASERATI MULTI70 FOR THE TRANSPAC RACE
     

    The team is training in Los Angeles ahead of the multihull start on July 6

    Modena 4 July 2017 - A skilled and experienced crew of Italian and Spanish sailors will race alongside renowned Italian offshore yachtsman Giovanni Soldini on the Maserati Multi70 trimaran in the Transpacific Yacht Race – a 2,225-mile open ocean race from Los Angeles to Honolulu, Hawaii.

    Six sailors will join Soldini aboard the Italian trimaran. Spaniards Carlos Hernandez and Oliver Herrera, and Italians Guido Broggi, Vittorio Bissaro, Francesco Malingri, will be joined by Italian industrialist John Elkann, who returns to the Maserati Multi70 crew.

    “It takes a strong crew to race a boat like ours in a tough race like the Transpac,” Soldini said. “I’m confident we have the right people on board and we will do our best, as always”.

    In a yacht racing career spanning 25 years Giovanni Soldini has racked up victories in many of the world’s most prestigious ocean races, including the Around Alone, Transat Jacques Vabre, OSTAR, and Quebec to Saint-Malo races.

    Racing aboard the Maserati VOR70 monohull, he also set new reference times for the Cadiz to San Salvador route (2012), the New York to San Francisco Gold Route course, and the San Francisco to Shanghai Tea Clipper Route.

    Guido Broggi has worked with Soldini since 1998, as both an on-shore ‘préparateur’ and a crew member on almost all of Soldini’s fully-crewed campaigns. An expert in high-performance yacht rigging, as the Maserati Multi70 boat captain, Broggi is responsible for keeping the boat’s complex systems working smoothly.

    After a successful first outing in the RORC 600 Race earlier in the year, Italian multihull virtuoso Vittorio Bissaro returns to the Maserati Multi70 crew for the Transpac. As well as multiple multihull national and European championship titles, Bissaro finished fifth at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the Nacra 17 catamaran class. Aside from his obvious sailing prowess, a degree in aerospace engineering gives him a unique perspective on how to get the best out of Maserati Multi70’s hydrofoils and towering sail plan.

    Spaniards Oliver Herrera and Carlos Hernandez are both in-demand sailors on the professional yacht racing circuit. A regular on the winner’s podium at top flight regattas around the Mediterranean, Herrera raced as bowman on board the Maserati VOR70 monohull and fulfils the same role on the Maserati Multi70 trimaran. Hernandez also raced with Soldini aboard the Maserati VOR70 and was part of the Spanish MAPFRE crew in the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race around the world.

    As well as his regular sailing duties, Francesco Malingri is also the team’s longstanding media man. Malingri has sailed around the world twice – the first time at the age of 13 with his family – and has raced in most of the world’s high profile yacht races.

    A keen yachtsman, John Elkann is chairman of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the group which owns the Maserati organisation. Elkann has sailed extensively with Soldini since 2009 and was on board the Maserati VOR70 for the 2012 Miami to New York record attempt, the 2013 Transpac Race and the 2015 RORC Caribbean 600 race.

    The crew recently arrived in Los Angeles aboard the Maserati Multi70 trimaran and this week will train on the water and make final preparations to the boat ahead of the Transpac multihull start on July 6.

    The restyled and further refined GranTurismo and GranCabrio models will also take on the Goodwood Hillclimb to make their global dynamic debuts in the Supercar Run. The 1.16-mile uphill stage is considered to be the most iconic feature of the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Maserati runs starting today, 29 June, and continuing through to Sunday 2 July.

    There will be two GranTurismo MC models at the Maserati stand, one in “Rosso Magma” with a black leather/Alcantara interior and one in “Grigio Lava” with “Rosso Corallo” leather upholstery. A GranCabrio Sport will be on display in “Blu Assoluto” with a “Bianco Pregiato” interior.

    On display alongside the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be the flagship Quattroporte Diesel in “Blu Passione”, the Ghibli Diesel executive sports sedan in “Rosso Energia” and the Levante Diesel in “Grigio Maratea”. The Levante S recently announced for right hand markets, will be at the “First Glance” paddock.

    Alongside these iconic models, Maserati has collaborated with several renowned partners to craft the perfect GranTurismo experience of style, comfort and performance at Goodwood.     The GranTurismo is the latest Maserati designed by Pininfarina and since its launch in 2007 it has evolved into one of the most iconic GT cars ever built. Both are considered to be the ultimate expression of Maserati’s passion, technology and craftsmanship and each one is unique in the supercar segment thanks to their timeless design and comfortable 4-seat interior.

    Maserati has produced more than 37,000 GranTurismo and GranCabrio models in the historic factory of Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena and relaunches the two iconic models for 2018 with an elegant and aerodynamically efficient restyling, refined interiors and a state-of-the art infotainment system.

The rear bumper has also been redesigned with an emphasis on the natural elegance of the iconic GT coupé and cabriolet, featuring a neater design with twofold layout for the Sport and MC versions.

    The interior of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio offers unparalleled comfort for four adults thanks to the individual Poltrona Frau® leather seats with integrated armrests. For 2018, the sumptuous interior features a new, high resolution 8.4” capacitive touch screen and refined ergonomics.     For 2018, the GranTurismo features a new, high resolution 8.4” capacitive touch screen and Harman Kardon Premium Sound system. The state-of-the art infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions, while the redesigned central console accommodates a user-friendly, double rotary knob, made of forged aluminium.     Sunday 11 June 2017, Beaufort Polo Club: Today, the UK round of Maserati’s International Polo Tour saw a thrilling match for the second year running at the Gloucestershire-based Beaufort Polo Club.

    Playing in the match at the historic British ground was a very special guest; HRH The Duke of Cambridge who played on the Maserati team alongside England International star player, Malcolm Borwick, as well as Bruce Merivale-Austin and Henry Porter. His Royal Highness took part in the game in aid of the charities Child Bereavement UK and Fields in Trust, of which The Duke is Patron.

    Playing on the opposing Dhamani 1969 team was HH The Maharaja of Jaipur, Karan Thapar, Nina Clarkin and Olly Tuthill.

    Today’s victory was secured by Dhamani 1969, whose powerful performance saw a final score of 7-6½. After an impressive showing, the Maserati Most Valuable Player prize was presented to Henry Porter.

    2017 is the fourth year Maserati and its polo apparel partner, La Martina, have hosted a global polo tour, with the UK match being the third of five matches on the calendar. The 2017 season spans nine months, covering two global continents.

    To celebrate the prestigious tournament, La Martina has designed a luxurious and completely unique polo shirt worn by the Maserati Team players. Made from 100% pure Italian silk from the region of Como, only four of these shirts have been made– one for each player on the Maserati team.

    Alongside the exclusive shirts worn by Team Maserati, La Martina has produced a special Beaufort Edition polo shirt which has been released to celebrate the UK leg of the Maserati Polo tour. The shirt features La Martina and Maserati logos embroidered in a Lurex thread, with a textured Union Jack flag printed in an iridescent gun metal effect on the front.

    The Maserati Polo Tour continues on 22 July with the start of the “46° Torneo Internacional de Polo” at the Santa Marìa Polo Club in Sotogrande, Spain.

    MASERATI: FINAL STAGE OF THE 2017 PARIS-MODENA FUNDRAISING TOUR
     

    The Cycle Tour, which left Paris on 3 June, ended at the Maserati headquarters in Modena yesterday.

    London, 8 June 2017 – The Paris-Modena fundraising tour organised by Maserati's French subsidiary ended yesterday at the headquarters of the famous Trident brand in viale Ciro Menotti, Modena.

    The fourth edition of the Paris-Modena Tour started from Disneyland Paris on Saturday 3 June with 35 riders including several famous names such as Paul Belmondo, former F1 driver Ukyo Katayama, Italian national cycling team coach Davide Cassani, and former professional cyclists such as Miguel Indurain, Alessandro Ballan and Marco Velo. Participants also included former Spanish national basketball team captain Jose Miguel Antúnez, Italian alpine skiers Manuela and Manfred Moelgg, Maserati Japan General Manager Guido Giovannelli, and Matteo Panini, owner of the Panini Museum, which houses one of the world’s most important collections of historic Maserati cars.

    With a route made up of five stages, with cycling sections alternated with sections covered by car, the group travelled across France, passing through Reims and stopping off at Tours sur Marne for a visit to the Laurent Perrier estate winery. On reaching Italy, the group stopped off at San Vigilio di Marebbe and then proceeded to Moena and Lake Como to reach Monza, where the riders were given a tour of the famous F1 circuit. The group then proceeded to Milan, where the participants received the hospitality of the Pirelli foundation.

    The night of the fourth stage was spent at Milan’s Hotel Gallia Excelsior, and the next morning, after riding through Cremona and Brescello, the Tour reached Modena in time for lunch at Azienda Hombre.

    The cyclists reached the finish line on 7 June at the historic headquarters of the ‘House of the Trident’, where the riders were welcomed by Giovanni Luise, Maserati CFO and Mike Biscoe, Chief Marketing Maserati Europe.

    Continuing with past tradition, the initiative, which was created to support the Rêves charitable association (www.reves.fr), raised a total of 15,000 Euro this year. The money collected will be used to help fulfil the dreams of seriously ill children and improve their quality of life.

    PETROL POWERED LEVANTE S, THE MASERATI OF SUVS, NOW AVAILABLE IN UK
     

    London, Friday 28 April 2017 – Maserati GB is pleased to announce the arrival of the petrol engine Levante SUV to the UK, joining the Diesel version which was launched last year.

    The Maserati Levante, the brand’s first luxury SUV, is now available in the UK with a V6, 430hp, 3.0-litre twin turbo petrol engine built by Ferrari that boasts a top speed of 164mph and 0– 62mph in just 5.2 seconds.

    The petrol unit joins the V6, 275hp, 3.0-litre turbo diesel powertrain already available on the Levante in the UK. Featuring active air suspension as standard, which offers five varying ride heights, the Levante boasts the lowest centre of gravity in its class.

    The Levante which features the intelligent Q4 AWD system as standard on all versions is the ideal complement to the existing Maserati range. Combined with the Quattroporte, Ghibli, GranTurismo and GranCabrio, the range now covers the entirety of the global luxury automotive market.

    Peter Denton, Region Manager, Maserati North Europe commented: “Following the launch of the diesel-powered Levante in the UK, it became clear there is also a demand for the luxury SUV in a petrol-powered version. With the Levante now available in the UK with our V6, 430hp petrol engine, we can offer the performance synonymous with Maserati along with the great off-road capabilities and sophistication we designed when creating the Levante.”

    The Levante S, will start at £ 70,755.00 OTR and can be further personalised with a wide range of optional equipment including a Zegna Mulberry Silk interior.
