In first place is Maserati’s homeland, Italy, where total sales this year have increased by 632% compared to this time last year – the biggest sales volume increase seen in any European market.
Other flourishing markets include Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In total 2,326 new Maseratis have been registered in Europe during the first five months of 2014; which is a 391% increase on 2013.

INTERNATIONAL MASERATI CENTENNIAL GATHERING TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER
Three days from Modena to Turin with a racetrack stop in Cremona, to celebrate Maserati’s first century.
A prologue in Bologna at the Fountain of Neptune, which inspired Maserati’s trident logo. |
|
Thursday, 5 June 2014 – The International Maserati Centennial Gathering celebrating the company’s 100 year anniversary is due to begin in Modena on Thursday, 18 September, and end in Turin on Saturday, 20 September 2014. The three day gathering will see a succession of exhibitions, parades, a regularity race, a track test, a visit to the two Maserati factories and a concours d'elegance. Cars and collectors from all over the world are expected to be in attendance. |
|
The Maserati Alfieri Concept |
|
A hundred years have gone by since, in December of 1914, Alfieri Maserati and his brothers Ettore and Ernesto opened the first car repair workshop in a basement on Via de’ Pepoli, Bologna. Here, before Italy entered the First World War and in the months that immediately followed the end of the conflict, they began to prepare and modify cars for themselves – the three Maserati brothers were also capable drivers – and the gentleman drivers of the period. These were the first steps of a company that in time was to become an international icon of Italian motoring.
The Maserati Centennial Gathering will begin in Modena on Thursday, September 18, with the arrival of the historic and contemporary models that will be taking part in the event and will be displayed in significant urban spaces. The program for the afternoon involves a visit to the Exhibition at the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari dedicated to the Maserati Centennial and then to the historic Viale Ciro Menotti factory. Here, where Maserati GranTurismos and GranCabrios and the Alfa Romeo 4C roll off the production lines every day, dinner will be served.
The next day, Friday, September 19, the participants will make their way to Turin. The first stop will be the San Martino del Lago Circuit near Cremona, which will host track sessions and pay homage to Baconin Borzacchini and his Maserati V4 ‘16 cylinder, in which the Italian driver set the world record over the Flying 10 Kilometres on 28 September 1929. The historic Maserati convoy will then parade through the streets of Cremona before racing on to Turin where they will line up in the majestic Piazza Castello. A gala dinner at the Reggia of Venaria palace is set for the evening.
Scheduled for the morning of Saturday, September 20, the third and final day of the event, are a visit to the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli Plant, where Maserati Ghiblis and Quattroportes are built, and the final leg of the regularity race, in the direction of the Basilica of Superga. The Concours d’Elegance in Piazza San Carlo taking place in the afternoon will be the concluding finale to the three day gathering.
As a prelude to the three day gathering, there will be an opportunity on Wednesday 17 September, for Maserati collectors to have their photographs taken with their car next to the famous Fountain of Neptune in the historic centre of Bologna, which was the inspiration for the Maserati trident logo and to see the exact location – Via de’ Pepoli 1 – where Maserati was born, one hundred years ago.
From today, the Centennial Gathering section on the www.maserati100.it (Italian) and www.maserati100.com (English) sites will contain all the information that Maserati customers and collectors who take part in the International Maserati Event in September may need.

MASERATI TRIUMPHANT AT CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE 2014. |

The 1956 450 S is Best of Show, as well as winner of the racing car category, For the track - racing for glory
Maserati Alfieri concept scoops the Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes
The 1929 Maserati V4 Sport wins the special centenary category, Maserati - the first century
The Maserati A6GCS from 1953 takes the Auto & Design Trophy
Tuesday, 27th May 2014 – The 2014 edition of the 'Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este' competition could not have gone better for Maserati, especially in this year of celebrations marking the centenary of the company's foundation.
Indeed, Maseratis earned the highest plaudits from the judges and public alike, collecting the Best of Show prize as well as other prestigious awards including the “Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes”. |
|
Maserati 450S |

Maserati Alfieri |
|
The surprise winner of the jury's Best of Show trophy, sweeping aside a host of prestigious rivals, was the dark blue 1956 Maserati 450 S, owned by Swiss entrepreneur and collector Albert Spiess. In 1956 and 1957, the Modena car manufacturer built just ten of these 2-seater racing cars, fitted with a 4.5-litre 400 HP engine and a body by Fantuzzi. This car, chassis number 4502, left for the United States in October 1956, purchased by Tony Parravano. It went on to compete in a number of races, meanwhile changing ownership several times before coming into the possession of the present day Swiss owner. At Villa d’Este the 450 S also triumphed in its own racing category, “For the track - racing for glory”, reserved, as the name suggests, for racing models from the 1950s and ’60s.< |

Maserati 300S |
|
In the special centenary category “Maserati - the first century”, which saw six Maserati cars from different eras in the running, the V4 Sport from 1929 (chassis 4002) outshone its “sister” models, taking the jury's top award. It is a truly rare and unique automobile, owned by Lawrence Auriana (USA). Only two were ever made, but one was converted into a V5 that was subsequently destroyed during a race. The V4 features a 16-cylinder V engine comprising two Tipo 26B inline-8 blocks, for a total cylinder capacity of 3,961 cc, delivering 305 HP. On 28th September 1929 Baconin Borzacchini set a world record in the V4 on the road circuit at Cremona (only partially asphalted), notching up an average speed of 246.069 km/h over a distance of 10 km. In 1934 the car displayed at Villa d’Este was rebodied as a Spyder by Zagato at the behest of the new owner, who also had it repainted in two shades of green. The V4 enjoyed more success than the other equally prestigious Maseratis present, namely: Maserati A6G/2000 Berlinetta Allemano 1956 Jonathan Segal (US); Maserati A6G/54 Berlinetta Zagato 1956 Claudio Scalise (AR); Maserati 150 GT Prototype Spider Fantuzzi 1957 Andreas Mohringer (AT); Maserati Quattroporte 1st Series Saloon Frua 1965 Ermanno Keller (IT); Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta Pinin Farina 1953 Matteo Panini (IT). |

Maserati A6GCS/53 |
|
Maserati Ghibli Coupe |
|
On Saturday the jury awarded the A6GCS Berlinetta the Auto & Design Trophy for the most thrilling style. Pininfarina made only four chassis mounted with a 6-cylinder 2-litre engine; it was this design that provided the Maserati Style Centre inspiration for creating the Alfieri concept car, unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show. In a hypothetical passing of the baton, it was precisely the Maserati Alfieri that earned important recognition from the public at the parade held at Villa Erba, as it scooped the Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes, heralded as the most exciting prototype of the 2014 edition. The concept car designed to celebrate Maserati's 100th Anniversary is an exciting but also functional prototype whose name pays tribute to Alfieri Maserati who, with the help of his brothers, promoted and founded “Officine Alfieri Maserati” in Bologna in Via Piepoli back in 1914.
The Maserati Alfieri was designed at the Maserati Style Centre in Turin by a group of designers coordinated by Marco Tencone, elaborating on a project by Lorenzo Ramaciotti, now Head of Global Design FCA. The Alfieri was driven into the exhibition area at Villa Erba by Harald Wester, CEO Maserati, who collected the award in person. |

Also at Villa Erba, Maserati set up its own exhibition space to celebrate the marque's 100th anniversary. On show, the new Ghibli plus the GranCabrio MC, alongside other vintage masterpieces of engineering, including a 1934 4C and a 3500 GT Spyder.
Lastly, also taking part in the “Six Days in the Sixties” class of the motorcycles category of the Concorso d'Eleganza, was a 1961 Maserati T 4 Regolarità 156 cc single-cylinder motorcycle, presented by the Bologna Historical Registry of Maserati Motorbikes.

"Hi,
I am the proud owner of a Maserati Quattroporte 2007. Yeserday, I filled up with BP petrol, drove a few miles and the "Engine Control System FailureE light came on.
Got it home and car started next day, idles okay and runs okay.
Taking it for a diagnostic soon. Will let you know how it goes.
Any other ideas ?
David."
"Hi David,
Thank you for your email.
Nothing other than the warning lights are extremely sensitive, and anything could set it off. I'm sure the diagnosis will get to the bottom of it.
Does the warning light still come on ?
Regards,
Enrico."
"Enrico,
Just an update (thanks for your interest).
A friend had a diagnostic scanner and I have just got back after a successful session.
We plugged the scanner into the computer port located under the dash next to the wheel (RHD) behind a little cubby drawer which unscrewed out by hand.
Turned ignition on to step 1 and the diagnostic showed no errors (although the engine fault light was still on).
We reset the memory anyway started the car and the engine fault light disappeared. So joy all round !!
I suspect it was a fuel problem caused by me not sealing the filler cap correctly. Anyway, I am all operational and will monitor the situation.
Please share this information with anyone that is interested.
Keep up the good work,
David." |

MASERATI 8CTF “BOYLE SPECIAL” RUNS HISTORIC LAP IN COMMEMORATION OF INDIANAPOLIS 500 TWO-TIME VICTORY.
Marks the first European car entered into the U.S. Library of Congress. |
|
Englewood Cliffs, NJ, May 25th — Reminiscent of its renowned win at the very same track, the Maserati 8CTF “Boyle Special” 8CTF (serial number 3032) relived its final victory lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway exactly 75 years later. On the brink of Maserati’s 100th anniversary, the 8CTF was honoured at the Indy 500 in commemoration of its declared win in 1939. Behind the wheel of the vintage automobile was Johnny Rutherford, three-time Indy 500 winner, muchlike the celebrated Wilbur Shaw that historically claimed his two-time victory for Maserati in 1939 and 1940 respectively. |

The legendary Maserati 8CTF was immortalised by the Historical Vehicle Association (HVA) today as the first foreign manufactured automobile to be permanently archived into the United States Library of Congress, a new effort to authenticate historically significant automobiles. Recorded under the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Heritage Documentation, the documentation will remain part of the HVA National Historic Vehicle Register and Historic American Engineering Record (HAER).
“As we are celebrating our first 100 years, Maserati is proudly charting its course for the next century,” states Harald Wester, Chief Executive Officer of Maserati S.p.A. “We are deeply appreciative of this act that demonstrates the long significant bond between Maserati and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, furthering the link between our brand and the United States.” |

|
Maserati 8CTF "Boyle Edition" Runs Historic Lap! |
|
The fateful 8CTF project was conceived by Ernesto Maserati at the beginning of 1938 with the strong support of the Italian industrialist Orsi family behind it. Characterised by its fixed head and 8-cylinder engine, the “Boyle Special” allowed for powerful, faster acceleration and remarkable reliability; traits which we still attribute to Maserati today. The 8CTF was Maserati's answer to the dominance of other European manufacturers on the race circuit of the 30’s era. The fact that only a few years later, a triumphant Maserati captured back-to-back victories in ‘The World’s Most Famous Race,’ remains at the heart of Maserati’s legend today.
“Witnessing the vintage Maserati 8CTF run with such rich automotive context of the Indianapolis 500 during its milestone anniversary is remarkable,” says Peter Grady, President and CEO of Maserati North America, Inc. At the century mark, Maserati is in the strongest position of its lifetime with two brand new sport-saloons, all-time high sales record and an exciting industrial plan.
