From eBay in Italy

"This Maserati, described as a "1963 Maserati 3500 GTI Coupé Superleggera" appeared on eBay at the very attractive price of EURO 38,000 (around GB £25,000), and not surprisingly was soon snapped up!

Only two registered owners; the first in 1963 and the second since 1975. It still had its original Mantua registration plate and had only covered 60,000 km since new.

The car was finished in a metallic grey with a white leather interior. A particular feature were the "Scià di Persia" louvred vents on the bonnet.

Subject to its overall condition, I think someone got a real bargain!!"

From Mehmet in Turkey

"Ciao Enrico,

Thought everyone would like to see these photos of this rare Ferrari 315 S Spyder by Scaglietti #0684 that took part in the 2007 Mille Miglia, driven by Taruffi/McCawn.

The 315 S, with its 3.8-litre V12 engine producing around 360 bhp, was built as Ferrari's answer to the threat from the Maserati 450S, with its 4.5-litre V8 producing around 400 bhp.

This car, driven by Piero Taruffi, actually won the Mille Miglia back in 1957 The victory was marred by the tragic accident that took the lives of Alfonso De Portago, his co-driver Ed Nelson, and nine spectators.

The pre-race favourite, a Maserati 450S driven by Stirling Moss with Denis Jenkinson as navigator, embarrassingly retired with a broken brake pedal.

Regards,

Mehmet."

From the Museo Bonfanti in Italy

Exhibition runs from 5th May 2007 to 21st October 2007

On the 29th April 2007, an exhibition entitled "Maserati 1957-2007, 50 years since the F1 World Championship" opened at the "Bonfanti-VIMAR" Automobile Museum. This will be the 34th exhibition organised by the museum, and celebrates the 50th anniversary of Juan Manuel Fangio in a Maserati 250F winning of the Formula 1 World Championship back in 1957.

The exhibition "Maserati 1957-2007, 50 years since the F.1 World Championship" is composed of a large number of racing cars from the 'Casa del Tridente', beginning with a single-seaters from the first post-war period (from the Tipos 26B and V4 from the late Twenties to the Tipos 8C, 4CM, 6CM, 8CM of the late Thirties) and ending with the 250F driven by Fangio in 1957.

The Fifties is represented by the sportscars A6GCS, 150S, 200S, 350S and 450S, not forgetting the hybrids, the Parson-Maserati and 2-litre WRE-Maserati, and the Maserati 420/M50 "Eldorado" that raced at Indianapolis.

To relive racing in the Sixties, on display representing sports racers are a Maserati Tipo 61 "Birdcage" and representing Formula one the single-seater Cooper-Maserati.

From the Seventies there is a Ligier-Maserati, evocative of the 24 Heures du Mans.

Completing the display are the Maseratis that have resurrected the racing image of the Trident between the Nineties and the first years of the new Millenium: a Group 4 Merak, a Ghibli Open Cup, a Barchetta from 1991, a Trofeo Coupé and the present day MC 12 that has dominated the FIA GT and Italian GT Championships.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday (closed all day Monday and Public Holidays).

Opening hours are from 10:00am - 12:30pm (last entry at 12:00pm) and from 2:30pm till 6:30pm (last entry at 6:00pm).

Ticket prices: Euro 6,00 (concessions: Euro 3,00). Souvenir programme: Euro 5,00.

"I was lucky enough to visit the Bonfanti Museum back in 2001 when they hosted their last exhibition dedicated to Maserati - "Il Tridente della Riscossa". It was well worth the trip then, and I'll be making the trip again this year. If you get a chance to visit the museum, make sure that you don't miss out on this one!

And you can buy some great Grappa in nearby Bassani del Grappa.

Enrico."
